The ideal method to use the harness is to have the quick attach sternum strap adjusters attach to the typical 1" wide webbing on your backpack or chest harness shoulder straps, as shown here.

If you don't have a backpack with 1" straps or cording, there are still several ways to use the KEYHOLE Hands-Free Camera Harness.

One option is to replace existing backpack shoulder straps with replacement shoulder harnesses.  For example see the REI website and type in keyword "shoulder harness".

LOWEPRO also offers a really nice S-F Shoulder Harness available by clicking on http://products.lowepro.com/product/S-F-Shoulder-Harness,2028,32.htm

Another good idea to eliminate a pack altogether is to use a chest harness.  There is a great one at Yates Gear www.yatesgear.com.  The Alpine Chest Harness #503 works great! (See photo on left and below)
